- Ground beef – Use lean ground beef or substitute ground turkey. Shaved steak will also work.
- Vegetables – Sweet onions, green bell pepper, fresh mushrooms.
- Broth – Beef broth is best or substitute chicken broth or vegetable broth.
- Cheese – I use shredded mozzarella for melting or use Provolone or cheddar cheese.
- Tater tots – Frozen tots or shredded hash browns or shredded potatoes
- Kitchen staples – Brown gravy packet, salt, black pepper if desired, fresh parsley for garnish.

How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Casserole
- Preheat oven to 425F.
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, add the butter and ground beef.
- Cook until beef is almost done. Stir in the onions, green pepper, and mushrooms.
- Cook until the onions and peppers are softened. Stir in the beef broth and gravy packet.
- Pour into a greased 9×13 baking dish. Top with cheese.
- Add the tater tots in a single layer on the top of the cheese and ground beef mixture.
- Bake at 42F for 30 minutes or until bubbly, the cheese is melted, and the tater tots are crispy and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and enjoy.

Could u use a white gravy instead of a brown gravy?
I don’t see why now other than it will give the meat mixture a slightly creamier and richer taste.
