What to Serve With It?

This casserole has plenty of veggies in it but I do like to serve it with a green salad and come crusty bread.

If you like more veggies, I like carrots for the color contrast.

Best Casserole Tips

  • Brown the ground beef in a medium nonstick skillet and drain well. Be sure to season it while cooking.
  • Like more onion flavor, add a sprinkle of onion powder.
  • Try a dash of Worcestershire sauce for some kick.
  • Cook the vegetables until crisp tender. They will continue to cook when you bake it.
  • Don’t have mushrooms? Substitute cream of mushroom soup.
  • Make it creamier by adding cream cheese or sour cream.
  • Replace the mozzarella cheese with provolone cheese slices.
  • Don’t overcook it. Bake until bubbly and the cheese is melted. If it starts to brown too soon, cover with foil.
  • Let it rest before serving. This will help the juices distribute and make it easier to serve.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs for more color.
  • Serve it or my Stuffed Pepper Casserole with a side salad or crusty bread.

Could u use a white gravy instead of a brown gravy?

I don't see why now other than it will give the meat mixture a slightly creamier and richer taste.
