The Best Ground Beef Casserole Recipes

There are so many ways to work with ground beef in a casserole. Keep in mind, any of these recipes also work equally well with ground chicken, pork, or turkey too.

Tips For Making Ground Beef Casseroles

  • Use the right ground beef for the job. Higher fat count beef works great for burgers on the grill, but for casseroles it proves often too fatty. Try to use the leaner grinds.
  • When browning the beef first, use high heat and sear it quickly. Don’t feel an obligation to cook it into dust though. Remember, the casserole bakes it a bit more.
  • To further reduce greasiness, strain the browned ground meat first to separate out some of the grease.
  • Season the beef when you brown it, but take that into account when you season the casserole. You don’t want to end up with a casserole that tastes like a block of salt.
